Synopsis –
Priorities
Career woman Lonnie Vendor is content with her wholesome
life, happily married to Jay, a handsome and nurturing
husband and successful architect. She enjoys her
gratifying career, healthy lifestyle and no children –
by choice. Playing stepmom to her husband’s three
children every other weekend is enough.
Who would guess that her uncomplicated life would
unravel? Ex-wife dies. Kids move in. Goodbye simplicity
and freedom! Lonnie sacrifices her career and takes on
the role of stay-at-home mom. Major mistake.
Frenzied and stressed, Lonnie drinks heavily one night
and thinks she cheats on her husband. Unable to live
with the guilt, she drives away. No luggage. No plans.
Nowhere to go.
She pushes the gas pedal to New York City where she
treats herself to shopping sprees, Broadway plays, and
five star restaurants and hotels. Lonnie faxes her
husband to say she needs a rejuvenating break.
There she connects with Gloria, a spicy, animated,
unrestrained bartender who takes her on a wild,
undisciplined and spontaneous vacation to the Bahamas,
proving to Lonnie how marvelous it is to be free of
responsibility. Pushy and selfish Gloria manipulates
Lonnie into mischief she never would have considered.
Jay treks after Lonnie on a wild goose chase,
surrendering after he
learns that she’s on a tropical vacation. Time to
forget his irrational wife, work less hours, and focus
on his kids.
After her wallet vanishes, she is partied out and Gloria
grates on her last nerve, Lonnie returns. Ashamed, she
camps out in a friend’s spare room, reinstates her
career and tries to forget her stupidity. Now what
appeared to be the greener grass isn't such a big deal
anymore.
Although she miserably
misses her family, her husband's anger won’t subside.
The stalemate continues until a
parent’s worse nightmare yanks the couple back to
reality. Realizing nothing is more important than his
family, Jay turns to Lonnie for comfort and strength.
Through the emotional months apart Lonnie and Jay each
learn some very valuable lessons about the priorities in
their lives.
